Open Enrollment begins for the Health Insurance Marketplaces

Yesterday, the Open Enrollment Period for the Health Insurance Marketplaces began for eligible Americans. (The federal deadline to enroll is December 15, but some states have different deadlines – find yours here.)

The Health Insurance Marketplaces help Americans live longer, healthier lives. With over 11 million people enrolled, the Marketplaces provide Americans who do not have access to health insurance through an employer, Medicare, or Medicaid an opportunity to gain coverage. Through either Healthcare.gov or a state-based exchange website, consumers are able to compare and contrast different health insurance plans to find one that suits their needs and works for them.

While there is room to improve access to affordable coverage, the Health Insurance Marketplaces are one more option in coverage that expands access to care for Americans. To learn more about Open Enrollment click here, and join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag: #OpenEnrollment.
